Watch Alexisonfire Tear Through “Young Cardinals” at Reading 2015
Just in case you were wondering, yes, it does appear that those in the UK were as excited about the series of Alexisonfire reunion shows as Canadians continue to be. This was proved over the weekend at the Reading and Leeds Festivals, as tens of thousands of heavy music fans enthusiastically welcomed the St. Catharines, Ontario, post-hardcore heroes.
“I think when we called it a day – we needed to end it,” said Alexisonfire guitarist and Gallows vocalist Wade MacNeil during an interview with Riffyou.com earlier this year. “We were lucky a year later to come back and do that final tour, which really put the band on good terms and was a positive experience. We’d all been hanging out tons, talking and [eventually] show offers came up. It’d really been the first time in everyone’s schedules where we actually could [reunite] – that was the first thing that changed. And, we really had no reason to say ‘no.’ We’re all really tight and we know that people wanted it.
He continued: “Who knows when that time in our lives is going to be again that we can all get on stage together. So, it felt like if we don’t do it now, who knows when it’s going to happen. It might not have – it’s as simple as that.”
