U2 Performing on Fallon’s “Tonight Show” Premiere
When SNL-alum and current host of Late Night, Jimmy Fallon, kicks Jay Leno out of his Tonight Show throne on February 17, it will be a beautiful day for those who want to become one with the program.
On Sunday evening, Fallon’s musical guest booker Jonathan Cohen announced via Twitter that Irish rockers U2 will be the revamped Tonight Show’s first performers. Will Smith is also slated to appear, but it hasn’t been said whether or not Bono will entertain the idea of a “Gettin’ Jiggy with It” duet.
“Thrilled that @U2 will be the first musical guest on the new Tonight Show with @jimmyfallon, premiering Feb. 17,” read the Tweet.
U2, hot off the heels of a Golden Globe win and Academy Award nomination for their song “Ordinary Love” from Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, are expected to announce details surrounding their forthcoming album during a Super Bowl commercial on February 2. Many believe the actual release date will be April.
If that’s the case, the yet-to-be-titled album will be U2’s first since 2009’s No Line on the Horizon.
