Riff Clip: Watch PUP’s New Video “Lionheart”
Friends of Riffyou.com, PUP, have debuted a new video for the speedy, anthemic rocker “Lionheart,” as they continue to stay busy on the road in both North America and Europe.
The video, which looks and feels like the basement party that everyone wishes they could have, follows the Toronto punk band’s buzzed about appearance at SXSW last month; a ton of praise from the likes of SPIN, Stereogum; and getting airtime on BBC Radio 1.
PUP is playing Toronto’s Sound Academy on April 11, shortly before embarking on a UK tour with Pure Love. From May through to July, the band will return to the US (and Toronto for a night), for a stretch of dates with The Menzingers, Lemuria, and Cayetana.
“It’s exciting for us,” PUP frontman Stefan Babcock told Riffyou.com in January about the band’s success thus far. “Our expectations have been reasonably low. We just wanted to make a record that we were going to be proud of – and we’ve done that. It’s been really cool to be in this position. Six months ago, we didn’t even have a band name, so to be here now, it feels great, but we don’t feel too pressured. We’ll keep playing music until people don’t care anymore…then, that’s it.”
