Primus Giving Fans Concert Tickets for Life
As Primus gear up for the October 21 release of Primus and the Chocolate Factory with the Fungi Ensemble, comes word that the band will be giving five incredible lucky fans one killer prize.
The album – which is effectively a reimagining of the Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory soundtrack – has been pressed in chocolate coloured vinyl. But, to stick with the golden tickets element of the movie and book, Primus will release five golden vinyl editions of the album. If a fan gets one of these, he or she will have access to free Primus tickets for life.
Whoa!
Primus and the Chocolate Factory with the Fungi Ensemble will – for the first time since 1995’s Tales from the Punchbowl – feature the band’s classic lineup of Les Claypool, Larry LaLonde and Tim “Herb” Alexander.”
“We need to make sure that kids in the future watch the original Willy Wonka and not the horrendous, horrible remake that came along and left the taste of feces in our mouths,” said Claypool in an interview with Rolling Stone. “As we started putting it together, especially with the expanded soundscape of having string and vibraphone and marimba, it started sounding to me like one of the early Peter Gabriel records meets Dark Side of the Moon meets the Residents. That’s what I get out of it. Obviously that’s some big-ass horn-tooting to be doing.”
