Moby Turkey-Shames Americans on Thanksgiving
For years, electronic music genius Moby has been very open about his choice to be a vegan. In an interview earlier this year with Rolling Stone, he went into great detail about why he’s chosen to live life this way.
One reason that he provided was his intense love for animals. He grew up with lots of pets and whenever one of them died, he’d cry inconsolably.
Well, his strong attachment to animals continues this American Thanksgiving as Moby has published the photo you see here on his official Facebook page, along with the caption: “This a mother turkey sheltering her babies in a tree. Sometimes it’s good to know your food.” Ah yes, Turkey-shaming!
As we await rocker, hunter, and all around scary American Ted Nugent’s opinion on this, all I can say is well played Moby, well played. Even as a dedicated carnivore, I can appreciate where you’re coming from and the tact you’ve displayed. I try to shame people out of eating broccoli…that vile weed!
A few years ago I had the opportunity to sit down with Moby to speak about his club experiences throughout the years, but near the tail end of the interview asked him about his decision to become a vegan. Here’s what he said:
“It’s not necessarily [about] being vegan, but being vegetarian or primarily vegetarian,” offered Moby. “At the end of the day, it’s better for the planet, it’s better for the individual, it’s better for the animals – everyone benefits. Whereas I can’t see anyone apart from the board of directors at McDonalds benefitting if you go and get a Big Mac.”
