Macaulay Culkin’s Band Pelted by Booze at UK Gig
Macaulay Culkin probably wishes that he stayed home alone on Sunday night as opposed to bringing his pizza-themed Velvet Underground cover band, The Pizza Underground, to a gig at the Dot To Dot festival in Nottingham, UK.
NME reports that the group exited the stage after just 15 minutes following and adverse reaction by some of those in the crowd. Apparently, pints of beer were chucked at the band. Culkin initially tried to have fun with the scenario by saying, “Why are you throwing those? I’d rather drink them!” but that didn’t turn the tide.
Eventually, five audience members believed to be the beer tossers were booted from the event.
Festival organizers – who also bring Dot To Dot to Manchester and Bristol – said “it’s such a shame that some members of the crowd had to ruin what was set to be an excellent show.” They went on to add that The Pizza Underground’s Manchester and Bristol dates went over very well.
As for the band, they took to Twitter to issue the following statement: “Thank you so much Nottingham and dot to dot. Sorry that a couple people ruined it for everyone.”
Some people not getting a pizza-themed Velvet Underground tribute band? Go figure.
