Listen to Cancer Bats Thrash Through a Joel Plaskett Cover
If you were to listen to a Cancer Bats album, then a Joel Plaskett album, one thing would grab you right away: Cancer Bats are goddamn heavy and Plaskett is not. That said, Plaskett is one of Canada’s most revered songwriters and his countrymen in Cancer Bats realize this. Thus, a connection exists.
Recently, when Cancer Bats rolled through Canada’s East Coast while on tour, the band recorded a mighty reimagining of Plaskett’s “Through & Through & Through” in the man’s New Scotland Yard studio. What’s more, Plaskett was on hand to produce the track.
“We’re all huge Joel Plaskett fans from Thrush Hermit to his Emergency jams and solo stuff. Easily one of the best songwriters in Canada,” explained Cancer Bats frontman Liam Cormier. “We chose ‘Through & Through & Through’ because it’s such a catchy banger of a tune and we figured we could make a rad gnarly version. The best part was working with Joel and how pumped he was on the cover and how much fun he was to record with. Best dude! Hopefully we can head out to New Scotland Yard again!”
