Dave Grohl Hints at Cities for 2nd Sonic Highways
During an interview with Boston radio station WAAF, Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl spoke at length about the Sonic Highways experience and ran off a list of further cities he’d like to explore. So, if you’re living in Boston, Minneapolis, Philadelphia, Miami and Atlanta, get ready – Foo Fighters could be coming from you.
Of course, earlier this year Grohl suggested that a second incarnation of Sonic Highways – the documentary series – could be filmed in the UK. To this point, however, nothing is set in stone.
Perhaps, headlining Glastonbury, playing Fenway Park and throwing an epic 20th birthday party for the band at RFK Stadium in Washington is keeping Grohl and the guys a little pre-occupied.
“I’d like to do what we have set out to do, which is to find new ways of making a Foo Fighters record,” said Foo Fighters bassist Nate Mendel in a recent interview with Riffyou.com. “[Sonic Highways] had a theme to it and a purpose. There were elements added to what the band does – not only just doing the television show and having this documentary element – but creatively with how Dave [Grohl] was writing his lyrics and the way we chose to record.”
“Foo Fighters have a sound,” he continued. “Forget it, the next album is not going to sound radically different from any of the other ones – that’s kind of a given. So, it’s everything else around it that we are going to strive to make interesting, to justify another 20 years.”
