Wisconsin Radio Station Bans Seattle Music Ahead of NFL Game

This Sunday afternoon, the Green Bay Packers will travel to the Pacific Northwest to take on the Seattle aaron-eddieSeahawks in the NFC Championship game, with the winner punching a ticket to Super Bowl XLIX in Arizona.

With Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers playing with a bad leg and having the memory of losing to Seattle 36-16 earlier this season, Wisconsin radio station 94.5 The Lake is looking to change the karma. Enter, the “Say No to Seattle” movement.

In the days leading up to the game, the radio will not play music from any band that has called Seattle its stomping grounds. That’s right, Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Soundgarden, Heart, and many others will be nixed from the station’s airwaves for the rest of the week.

“We play everything, because it’s all about the variety, except music from Seattle. Not this week,” explained J Pat Miller, an on-air personality for 94.5 The Lake. “We’re saying no to Seattle as the Packers get ready to go out to the Pacific Northwest and WIN!”

“All of Wisconsin is focused on the Packers beating the Seahawks on Sunday,” added Tom Langmyer, Vice President & General Manager of Journal Broadcast Group’s Milwaukee Radio Operations. “Our ‘Say No to Seattle’ campaign is Wisconsin’s way to get behind the Packers and cheer them on to the Championship.”

This may tear up Rodgers on the inside a bit, as he’s previously cited Pearl Jam as one of his favourite bands.

As for what Riffyou.com thinks about this strategy, all we can say is: Go Packers!
