Watch Letterman Get Emotional for Foo Fighters Performance
Last night, David Letterman and Foo Fighters continued their week of bromancing with a touching performance of one of the band’s older tracks, “Miracle.”
After powering through “Polk Salad Annie” with legendary rocker Tony Joe White for the TV audience, Letterman requested “Miracle” for a special web-exclusive performance.
“These gentlemen, we’ve known each other for a long, long time now. They have crossed my paths in ways unexpected and expected. And, as a result, each and every year they grow to mean more to me as human beings and talented musical artists,” said a jacket-free Letterman as the Foos got their instruments in order behind him.
As the introduction continued, Letterman got real personal by relaying a story about how the song was used to soundtrack a video of his then four-year-old son skiing.
“It’s the second song of theirs that will always have great great meaning to me for the rest of my life,” he explained.
By the end of the performance, Letterman – who had become teary-eyed – concluded: “You see what I mean? That’s pretty good!”
