Watch Dropkick Murphys Perform at Boston Airport
The night before St. Patrick’s day, Celtic punk rock favourites, Dropkick Murphys, played an impromptu mini-show at Gate E4 of Logan International Airport in Boston. According to Consequence of Sound, the band performed renditions of “Shipping Up to Boston” (which was changed to “Shipping Up to Dublin), “Dirty Glass” and “Rose Tattoo.”
Today, Dropkick Murphys are scheduled to play a pair of shows on Vicar Street in Dublin, Ireland, before performing a collection of dates across the UK.
“You know, so many bands put themselves on a pedestal and think their shit doesn’t stink,” said Dropkick Murphys drummer Matt Kelly in a 2014 interview with Riffyou.com. “We know how lucky we are to be doing what we’re doing, and know so many people who would give their right arm to be out doing this as a full-time job. I think when people meet us they’re disappointed because we’re not larger-than-life caricatures of drunken, ‘whiskey-soaked’ (a popular appellation people describe us with) Boston Irish goofballs. We’re just regular guys who have an awesome job!”
