Watch Alexisonfire Frontman in Gothic Comedy Sketch

Share

When he’s not busy cracking skulls with his new band Dead Tired, former Alexisonfire frontman George Pettit is working with the comedy sketch team, House of Commons. Currently, you can see him in action in a comedy short that – if all goes accordingly – could be extended and broadcast on the CBC.

Titled NINTERLAND WHO’S WHO, the project is involved in the CBC’s ComedyCoup endeavour which “gives audiences the power to help [their] favourite comedy show concepts and talent accelerate towards $500K in production financing to create a half-hour special for CBC prime time.”

Produced by Night of the Living Dead Live’s Phil Pattison and Directed by Benjamin Rispin (The Video Dead, Saint Alvia), Pettit stars in a hilarious tribute to Canada’s Hinterland Who’s Who, which were 60-second public service announcements that profiled Canadian animals.

The twist? Instead of focusing on beavers or seals, this time it’s the Goths.

“It was about a year ago when I ran into George and Megan Pettit in Hamilton’s Club Absinthe. I’ve been friends with both of them for years,” recalls Rispin while in conversation with Riffyou.com. “After a few beverages I suggested to them that they – along with my good friends Adam Price and Phil Pattison – should try to put together a sketch comedy show.

“Somehow we started making it happen and saw this CBC ComedyCoup thing,” he continues. “Not knowing if it was right for our project, we entered anyway and now we’re planning on making this little dream a reality. Regardless of if it works out with ComedyCoup, we can’t wait to share what we’ve been working on with everyone.”

In addition to Pettit, Keith Buckley of Every Time I Die also makes a guest appearance in this short. Be sure to keep an eye out for him.
