UnCut Audio: JJ and The Pillars Discuss “The Pit”
It’s been a busy, yet productive series of months for Ontario modern folk-rock collective JJ and The Pillars. July saw the band’s formation and it was August when they won influential Toronto radio station 102.1 The Edge’s ‘Next Big Thing’ battle of the bands. Subsequently, new music was created and touring became prominent.
Whoa, talk about a quick ascent!
This month, the band has digitally released WOLVES, through Dine Alone Records. It features a series of songs from JJ and The Pillars‘ independent EP, along with a pair of new tracks, including the one Riffyou.com has the distinct pleasure of premiering today: “The Pit.”
Viewed by the band’s lyricist and vocalist JJ Thompson, as a darker, more aggressive tune than they usually put out, “The Pit” was inspired by the struggles of a close friend who started moving in a dark direction.
For the full story, you can listen to our conversation with Thompson about it, after watching the song’s brand new lyric video.
