Tom DeLonge Wishes Ex-Blink-182 Mate Happiness
Tom DeLonge sure enjoys the Internet. When he’s not using it to promote his alien theories or his forthcoming debut solo album, he is pushing through the 1s and 0s to seemingly reach out to at least one of his ex-Blink-182 bandmates.
In a tweet on March 10, DeLonge explained: “I will never dislike @markhoppus – too many years as my closest friend. I want him to be happy-.”
Mark Hoppus, who has been very open about the laundry list of situations that led to DeLonge’s exit from Blink-182, seemingly feels the same way.
“Travis and I aren’t angry or mad or whatever,” said Hoppus in a January interview with Alternative Press. “When we got the email from Tom’s manager saying that he didn’t want to record, at least he was being honest at that point. We’ve been dragging for so long to try to get into the studio and try to get to work. For him to finally say, “I’m not going to do it,” was almost like, “Okay, now you’ve actually said it. Now let’s move forward: You do whatever you want to do and we’ll continue doing what we love doing. Which is Blink.”
Last week, Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker issued a similar statement during an interview with Alternative Nation, before publically requesting that DeLonge be honest with fans.
“As far as I’m concerned, no bad blood from me,” offered Barker. “I wish him the best in everything he does. I think the right thing for him to do would just man up and quit the band instead of telling people he didn’t quit and just be real with the fans. I think that would give him some closure too and really do what he’s passionate about.”
But yeah, don’t expect a reunion any time soon.
