Smashing Pumpkins Stripping Down for Acoustic Tour
Before Smashing Pumpkins join Marilyn Manson for a joint headlining tour of North America in 
July, Billy Corgan and the crew will embark on its first ever acoustic tour. The eight-show stripped down affair will begin on June 15 in Buffalo, New York, before closing out on June 25 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
“Having written and released over 400 songs, Billy Corgan says that songs appearing in the set won’t only come from the Pumpkins storied catalog, but will also feature songs from Zwan and solo works as well,” reads a statement on the official Smashing Pumpkins Facebook page.
“The future of the Smashing Pumpkins is kinda murky,” explained Corgan in an interview with Peru’s Radio Oasis in March. “I’ve only committed to the idea of The Smashing Pumpkins through, pretty much, to the end of this year. After that I’m gonna see how it goes.”
He continued: “I feel like I really need to evaluate the musical purpose of the Pumpkins. Because more and more of the audience is fixated on the past. I know a lot of the audience will say, ‘Well, I like your music better from the ’90s, than say the music you’re making today.’ But I know they’re not listening to the music of today, as much as they were listening to that music. And they’re also not listening in the same contextual thing…I’m the type of artist that I don’t wanna sort of exist in something that is sort of fading like an iceberg into the past.”
