Sam Roberts Band Beer Headed to LCBO
In addition to rock n’ roll, the Sam Roberts Band also loves beer. So much so, that earlier this year it was revealed that the group had partnered with Spearhead Brewing Company to create the Sam Roberts Band Session Ale.
Well, the endeavour has gone so well thus far, that these brews will go from being strictly housed in public houses and watering holes, to Ontario’s massive retail booze provider, the LCBO.
“We relied on our expertise in the field of beer drinking,” says Roberts of the beer. “It required a lot of quality control, rigorous research and development,” adding that taking his first sip was like “hearing your song on the radio for the first time.”
The Sam Roberts Band Session Ale is described as an “extremely sessionable brew, with its rich amber colour and light body,” that was inspired by Roberts’ affection for English ales. It is unfiltered and naturally carbonated, as well as brewed with three types of hopes and four types of malt. It has a very reasonable ABV of 4.5%.
Sam Roberts Band Session Ale was voted “Best Collaboration Beer” at the 2014 Session Craft Beer Festival and “Best Beer” at the 2014 Toronto Beer Week Drinker’s Choice Awards.
