Rock Icon Joe Cocker Passes Away at 70
Legendary rock n’ roll artist Joe Cocker has passed away today at the age of 70, following a battle with lung cancer.
Born on May 20, 1944, in Sheffield, England, Cocker – according to Sony Music – created nearly 40 albums throughout his illustrious career. Somehow, despite a vast and celebrated body of work, Cocker isn’t a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Contemporary Billy Joel recently lamented at a New York concert that Cocker should be in.
Cocker is best known to most for his outstanding rendition of The Beatles’ “With a Little Help from My Friends,” which appeared as the theme song for seminal coming of age sitcom, The Wonder Years. He can also be heard on classics like “You Are So Beautiful,” and “Up Where We Belong.”
Cocker is survived by wife Pam, of Crawford; his brother Victor of Norfolk, England; his step-daughter, Zoey Schroeder and two grandchildren, Eva & Simon Schroeder.
