Riff Clip: PUP Make Fans Ballistic at Hillside Festival
The Hillside Festival in Guelph, ON, got a little ballistic on Saturday night as rising Toronto punk rockers, PUP, took the stage and blew away the hippie vibe that is consistently felt during the three-day event.
Twenty minutes ahead of their set, the young, sweaty, and adult beverage-enhanced audience crammed between the patio tables and the stage as anticipation filled the room.
As soon as the band laced into album and show opener, “Guilt Trip,” the crowd surged and swayed. Fists began to pump, legs began to jump, and the concerned moved out of potential harm’s way to watch the beautiful madness ensue.
Soon enough, extra security was brought in to man the front of the stage, and PUP was encouraged by staff to try to cool down the crowd. That request almost worked, but bodies were soon flying atop of bodies at a greater rate, while the feeling of danger felt so damn enjoyable.
Riffyou.com was brave enough to be within a body-surfing kick away from the pit and shot this video of the band ripping through “Back Against the Wall.” Grab a look at it below:
Also, stay tuned for our new interview with PUP, plus a video of frontman Stefan Babcock discussing where the song “Reservoir” came from.
