PUP Announce First Headlining North American Tour

It’s been a big year for our friends in Toronto punk act, PUP. They’ve been designated as one of Rolling Stone’s ‘Breakout Rock Acts of 2014,’ signed on with SideOneDummy records, and recently got back from a tour alongside The Menzingers.

Now, the band is poised to venture off on their first, true headlining tour of North America. Presented by Noisey, the ‘Everything Gets Worse’ tour will run from October 7 through November 8. We assume that the month-long gap between PUP’s September 7 hometown performance at Riot Fest and the start of the tour is to allow the band to recover from what’ll likely be a chaotically beautiful gig.

“This is our first proper North American headline tour, it’s our first time playing Riot Fest. Needless to say, we’re really excited,” says singer/guitarist Stefan Babcock. “We’ve had an amazing year of non-stop touring and doing our own tour is something we’ve been waiting for a long time.”

When Riffyou.com spoke with Babcock in January, he couldn’t help but sound genuinely stoked about the ride his band was currently on: “It’s exciting for us. Our expectations have been reasonably low. We just wanted to make a record that we were going to be proud of – and we’ve done that. It’s been really cool to be in this position. Six months ago, we didn’t even have a band name, so to be here now, it feels great, but we don’t feel too pressured. We’ll keep playing music until people don’t care anymore…then, that’s it.”
