Prince Abandons Facebook Fan Q&A After One Question
Prince is a strange duck. But, if he was looking for a way to get more of us to know that he released two albums yesterday (PlectrumElectrum and Art Official Age), then mission accomplished: yesterday’s promotional stunt/slap-in-the-face-of-fans event has done the trick.
Yesterday, the Purple Rain maker signed up for Facebook and committed to participating in a Q&A with fans upon his page. However, after just one question, Prince went quiet.
What was the first question? Did someone question his wardrobe choices? Did someone ask him to abandon his name for a new symbol? Did someone ask him to babysit a pet snake?
Nope.
Someone actually asked a nerdy music question: “Please address the importance of ALL music being tuned to a 432hz sound frequencies.” Okay, that’s not quite a question, more of a request for an explanation.
Either way, instead of sharing a few words of wisdom, Prince opted to publish a link to an article on the matter…three hours after the question was asked. Beyond that, there was radio silence. The questions kept coming in, but nothing was coming out of the Prince camp.
As of the time of this story being published, nearly 4,000 questions/comments/bouts of confusion have been posted on Prince’s Facebook page.
Bravo, Prince. Way to ‘appreciate’ your fans. Jerk.
