the-penske-file-2-smallUp and coming Burlington, ON, folk-punk trio The Penske File originally planned to hold a show in their hometown this weekend to help raise funds for their next tour, but after a weekend van accident, a new cause has been added to the event.

“I hit a patch of ice on the highway and lost control of the van,” explains band bassist James Hall to Riffyou.com. “Luckily no one was hurt, but the van is done. So maybe if some more people come out on Saturday, we can get a little money to put towards a van.”

The show will take place on February 15 at The Black Bull, with Bombing Neverland, Catapult, Dirty Jeans, and Gentlemen Thieves acting as the evening’s supporting. Just $7 will get you in the door.

When we first caught up with Hall in December, the band was gearing up for their first tour of the U.S. and reflecting upon their stellar 2013 release, A Restless Symphony. During our conversation, Hall explained The Penske File’s passion for the stage.

“The more people I play in front of – hopefully they’ll buy the record and listen to it again – but honestly, I’d rather see them at the next show,” offered Hall. “I want to see faces out and people having a good time. Whether we play to a room with 20 or 100 people, it’s the same feeling every time we get on stage. We have a great time because we are three best friends that play music we love and get to travel for the cost of food.”

Via Twitter, the band has said that they have eight songs ready to go, with another eight in the works. When they’ll surface is yet to be known.
