Neil Young Added to WayHome Festival
Just in case the presence of Sam Smith, Kendrick Lamar and Alt-J weren’t enough of a reason to visit the inaugural WayHome Music & Arts Festival in Oro-Medonte, Ontario (near Barrie, North of Toronto), comes word that Neil Young + Promise of the Real have been added to the bill.
Promise of the Real features Lukas and Micah Nelson, the sons of country music legend Willie Nelson. In late 2014, the band confirmed that it was going to record new music with Young: “Neil Young has honored us by asking us to accompany him on his next recording project,” reads a statement upon the band’s official website.
We now know that those sessions turned into The Monsanto Years, an album that will be released on June 16 through Reprise Records.
WayHome – which is being produced by Republic Live and AC Entertainment, the same companies that organize Bonnaroo – will also feature acclaimed international acts Modest Mouse, St. Vincent, Run the Jewels, Hozier, Passion Pit, The Gaslight Anthem, as well as a ton of Canadian talent like Sloan, Fucked Up and The Sheepdogs.
More additions to the WayHome lineup are expected this afternoon, so please stay tuned for updates.
If you’re looking to add WayHome to your festival calendar, the event takes place from July 24-26.
