Muse Call “Drones” its Best Album to Date
Muse may have a mighty album back catalogue that includes the likes of Absolution, Black Holes and Revelations and The 2nd Law, but the band thinks it’d be best for fans – old and new – to disregard its past and focus on Drones.
“I can say this: [Drones] is our best album,” said Muse vocalist/guitarist Matthew Bellamy in an interview with iHeartRadio. “I haven’t been able to say that for a while, but this album is our best album – so feel free to start on this one, just don’t worry about the others.”
While Bellamy has previously explained that drones are a running theme through much of the album, he also informed iHeartRadio that it was important for Muse, on Drones, to take a step back from experimenting with other genres and get back to rock n’ roll.
“On the last album (The 2nd Law), we experimented a lot and did a lot that was outside of our genre,” admitted Bellamy. “We got into electronic music. Now on the album we thought it would be good to go back to a more rock sound.”
Drones is due to strike on June 8.
