Mötley Crüe to be Countrified on Tribute Album
Well, Rascal Flatts recording a version of theMötley Crüe classic “Kickstart My Heart” is not something I expected to learn about upon waking up this morning. Maybe I need to be pinched, because this doesn’t seem real.
No less, as previously announced earlier this year when Mötley Crüe announced their absolute final tour, Big Machine Records, Mötley Records and Eleven Seven Music have partnered to release Nashville Outlaws: A Tribute to Mötley Crüe. Due out July 8, the album will feature 15 countrified takes on some of the notorious hair-rockers’ greatest hits.
Onboard for the project are the aforementioned Rascal Flatts, along with Florida Georgia Line, Big & Rich, LeAnn Rimes, Gretchen Wilson, Darius Rucker, Justin Moore, and more.
“We did not make this record for Mötley Crüe fans, but for Country fans who are also Rock fans,” clarifies Mötley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx. “I believe that there’s going to be a lot of synergy and excitement for Mötley Crüe fans hearing different artists covering their favorite songs. People will be surprised how these artists made these songs their own and we couldn’t be happier with how the album turned out. It’s been an amazing, positive experience and, as a lot of things we’ve done, a first in our career.”
“It has been a blast becoming friends with the Mötley guys and learning how much they appreciate the history of country music,” says Moore. “They are truly one of the most disruptive bands of their generation and I am honoured to be able to cover one of my favourite Crue songs of all time, “Home Sweet Home.” It has been pretty unreal singing with Vince Neil.”
Yeeha!
