Marilyn Manson Clarifies Del Rey Rape Video

A few weeks back, an online uproar occurred over the release of what appeared to be a Marilyn Manson video that featured lana-mansonsongstress Lana Del Rey in a rape scene with Eli Roth.

Although a Manson representative quickly dismissed the notion that the shock rocker had anything to do with it, we hadn’t yet heard from the man that we fear: until now.

In a new interview with NME, Manson denied his involvement in the video people saw, explaining that an editor he had worked with in the past spliced together a series of random clips – including the Del Rey rape scene – on his own accord.

“It wasn’t a Marilyn Manson video,” explained Manson. “The editor of the company that put it out was somebody who’s edited my videos. That video was something that was done with a camera that Eli (Roth, director), who’s my friend, and I both wanted to test out, so I let him test it out […] what they filmed was put in context seemingly as if it were a Marilyn Manson video, and that was in no way the intention.”

He went on to say that he was hoping to make a video with Del Rey, but that endeavour became too difficult for him, so he gave up on the idea.

“Eli and I wanted to do a music video with her but she was being such a problem,” continued Manson. “Although I still respect her, [and] I’m friends with her, I just left. I was tired; I was not willing to make that part of the video. Eli and I originally had intentions of making a video with her, but that is not the intention that is represented in that film clip because that is not what I filmed, not for my video.”

Manson also noted that the Del Rey scene “strongly stands out of place” amidst the other footage, and that he “would not make a video of that nature.” Lastly, Manson confirmed that he’s “a person that would beat somebody’s ass if they raped somebody that I know.”
