Listen to “From the Night,” the New Song from Stars
Montreal indie-pop collective Stars will release their eighth studio album, No One is Lost, on October 14, but today is the day we get to hear the album’s opening track and lead single, “From the Night.” (Click here to do so.)
The 6:29 track has a supreme disco-vibe to it, and while there is a push towards happiness being made, an underlying sadness is still explored.
“‘From the Night’ is a letter to those of you who stayed home and didn’t take a chance on the possibility that a bassline and a hi-hat rhythm might save your life,” says Stars co-frontperson Torquil Campbell. “We just wanted you all to know that it’s beautiful out here; that everyone feels like time won’t end and we will all be alive forever.
“Oh, and one other thing: It’s lonely,” he continues. “There is no lonelier feeling in the world than watching the sun rise as you walk home. Go back to sleep. And dream…”
No One is Lost can be pre-ordered today through iTunes.
Stars will play Riot Fest in Toronto this September (win tickets here!), but are also hitting the road with Hey Rosetta! All dates can be found on the band’s official website.
