Kings of Leon Think Pop Music is Ruining the World
While Kings of Leon somehow pissed off many of their hardcore fans with the super-poppy single “Sex On Fire,” the band believes that today’s pop music scene is having a truly detrimental effect on society.
During an interview with the Sydney Morning Herald, Kings of Leon guitarist Matthew Followill spoke out by saying: “Some pop shows I watch, it feels like the end of the world, it’s fucking awful.”
Followill further stated that he doesn’t believe that these types of performances are about music anymore, and that a parent would “never” want their children to watch shows like that.
“I can’t believe that younger kids, even teenagers are watching that stuff,” he continued. “It almost seems to be making the world a bad place.”
Kings of Leon bassist Jared Followill also stated his displeasure for pop shows: “They make me cringe. I can’t watch that stuff. Not even just because they’re taking their clothes off…it’s the whole thing, the dance moves, it’s not good.”
Kings of Leon recently announced a big-time 2014 North American tour for their latest album, Mechanical Bull. Click here to find out what we thought about it.
