July Talk Back in the Studio Making New Music
As July Talk get ready to head back onto the road in February for a slew of North American tour dates, followed by a trip to Europe at the end of March, it’s been learned that the band is back in the studio writing new material.
Yesterday on the official July Talk Instagram account, a photo emerged of vocalist Leah Fay behind the mic, along with a caption that read, “Writing day!”
In July, Riffyou.com sat down with the band’s Peter Dreimanis and asked him where July Talk was with regards to following up their stunning 2013 Self-Titled debut.
“We have new songs that we’ve been playing live, and we love them,” he said. “The parts of the July Talk show that have most interest us – being the time that we to improvise and be spontaneous – we’re writing songs around that ideology. This is probably the main difference. If you listen to a song like “Guns + Ammunition,” there’s not enough space. We’ve really learned to, as we write, to leave more space and empty area in a song, and let the show inform what fills that space.”
