Was He High? Watch Afroman Punch a Female Fan
After many years of singing about being high, Afroman reached a new low last night by devastating a female fan with a vicious punch during his show in Biloxi, Mississippi.
The man behind the infectious 2001 pro-pot track, “Because I Got High,” was mid-guitar solo when a woman sipping a drink calmly danced her way toward him on stage. As she reached her pinnacle, Afroman quickly turned and cold-cocked her with a vicious right hook. After hitting the stage hard, the unidentified woman somehow managed to get to her feet and make an exit. Witnesses say she was bleeding and crying after the incident.
Authorities eventually stopped the show and took Afroman into custody. He was booked for assault, but subsequently released on $330 bond.
A representative for Afroman informed TMZ that this is out of the singer’s character and that he was merely reacting to somebody getting on stage, not knowing at the time if it was a man or woman. He went on to blame the venue for its lack of security.
Shortly after the assault, Afroman issued this statement (no joke!) through his official Facebook page:
Last year, Afroman released the One Hit Wonder EP, an offering that featured a remodeled version of “Because I Got High.”
After last night, we can now say that Afroman is more than a one hit wonder.
Here’s fan shot footage of the punch:
