Hard Rockers, Biblical, to Trek Across US with DFA 1979
New Damage Records hard rock act (and friends of Riffyou.com), Biblical, will head off on their first extended run of
US dates with Death From Above 1979. The tour kicks off in Atlanta on November 3, and wraps up on December 2 in Boston (full tour dates listed below).
Earlier this year, Biblical released their strong debut full-length, Monsoon Season, a collection of songs that may sprawl at times, but manages to maintain a focused, unrelenting heaviness.
While Biblical may not seem like the most obvious touring partner for DFA 1979, Biblical bandmates Nick Sewell and Andrew Scott were once a part of Sebastien Grainger and The Mountains. In this business, it’s good to have friends in the right places.
“Sonically, I’m really happy with the space that the record occupies,” said Sewell in an interview with Riffyou.com back in March. “When you make a guitar record these days, it’s very easy to just go crazy with overdubs and try to fill up the mix as much as possible. But, what I really like about our record is that there’s so much space and separation – sometimes we fill up [the songs], sometimes they’re wide open. I really like the contrast.
“In terms of the style,” he continued, “we made a discovery when we made our 10” EP. We have this song “Oubliette,” and we’d been playing it for a very long time. It has a moment of getting really, really loud, then backing off. So, that was reallythe jumping off point for this record: ‘what if we took that concept, and tried to make a whole record based around creating those tensions between loud and soft, or fast and slow?’ That’s something we tried to keep in mind with this album. It takes various forms in these tunes, but I think you’ll always find those elements of contrast in these songs.”
