Band Name: Lancaster
Band Members: Anth Alonso (vocals), Rubén Gómez (guitar), Nacho Larraza (guitar), Adru García (bass), and Miguel Vera (drums).
Years Active: 3
City of Origin: Barcelona, Spain.
Who are you and what do you do?
“Hi! Anth here. I sing in Lancaster.”
In 100 words or less, tell us how your band has gotten to this point.
“We enjoy our music and its process. We’ve played along Spain on two introductory tours ‘We Are Lancaster Part I & II,’ to introduce our debut EP, Squaring The Circle. Now, we have released our debut album, Journeys, which is absolutely mind-blowing.”
What is your latest release and how would you best describe it to someone who hasn’t heard your band?
“’As Wild As Tigers,’ is the first single taken from Journeys. People have to listen to Lancaster because music needs bands with ambition, big goals and a true love for music. Every song is a catchy hymn to sing along to.”
When making an album, which aspect of the process do you put the most time into and why?
“Everything! It’s super important to be meticulous with every part of this process. You will always want to change things, but you have to be very confident with your stuff because you have to be the first who believes in it enough to take it to the end.”
What is the best part about your band and why?
“The ambition, the illusion, and the hope we have in this. We really believe we can do something cool and work hard enough to accomplish everything. Our live show is very powerful and interactive, but we have got to have a spectacular studio album and a spectacular live show, which is the key.”
What makes your band unique from the rest?
“The way we deal with the songs and the darkness behind the songs, but never forgetting they are catchy hymns.”
How does your band survive the challenges of touring/gigging?
“It’s super hard to survive ‘in the jungle,’ but if you just can do what you love…I mean, there’s always highs and lows but you can’t stop, you have to be confident with you. You have to be confident and trusting of your mates, and have true love for the music. That makes it always worthy.
Would you rather be critically-acclaimed; rich and famous; or an under-the-radar band with a dedicated fan base?
“I don’t really know. I mean, I think you can’t be an under-the-radar band without being critically-acclaimed…the world is mad like that. The thing is that I would love to do is make a living off of my music and just do what I love.”
If you’d have to compare your band to another one out there, living or dead, who would it be and why?
“Young Guns: they are our main influence and they have the key to writing awesome songs.”
Which band/musician would you like to share many drinks with? What would you talk about?
“Young Guns again? We have talked with them some times and they are very nice boys. But, I would love to have more time to learn more about their experiences in the music industry, as well astheir beginnings.”
