Fuk Cancr Benefit Concert is a Family Affair
For Brad Sumak of rock act Bombing Neverland, some gigs are more important than others. Take in point this Sunday’s (March 22) Fuk Cancr benefit concert at Boston Manor in Burlington, Ontario.
Co-organized by Sumak, this fundraising show is designed to raise funds for the city’s Joseph Brant Hospital Cancer Clinic, a place in which his father has been undergoing treatment at for several years now.
“Everyone at the clinic has been amazing,” explains Sumak in an interview with Riffyou.com. “I thought I’d reach out to some musician friends of mine, and see who would be interested in jumping on board.”
A band close to the Sumak family’s hearts, The Kings, will headline the show and be accompanied by The Big Time Killin Time Band, The Kristin Nichols Band, and Bianca Bernardi.
“I wanted to get The Kings involved, because they’re one of my dad’s favourite bands,” notes Sumak. “I’m thrilled that they’re able to be a part of this.”
Tickets are $15 at the door and all sorts of prizes will be raffled off. Each cent earned will go directly to the Joseph Brant Hospital Cancer Clinic. The hope is to raise $4,000-$5,000.
“[We] will be happy with any number,” says Sumak of the fundraising goal. “It’s shaping up to be great day of music, for a great cause.”
