Foo Fighters Gear Up for Wembley Stadium Shows

By now, every Foo Fighters fan on the planet knows that Dave Grohl has a busted leg after Foo Fightersfalling off a stage in Sweden on Friday. We have seen the video and we have seen the photos of Grohl in a cast and wheelchair. But, as far as we know, Foo Fighters will still play two nights (June 19 and 20) at England’s legendary Wembley Stadium.

During an interview with NME, ahead of Grohl’s injury, he along with fellow Foo Fighters Pat Smear and Chris Shiflett spoke about the band’s live perspective and Wembley approach.

“This tour that we are on right now and the set we have been playing and the songs that we’ve been playing, is the best that we’ve ever played,” explained Grohl “Every time, we make a record, to me, we’re just making a better show. We have 20 years of albums and songs behind us and the show just keeps getting bigger and better and longer as more songs and sing-alongs…we’re not bringing explosions and confetti and pyro or stuff like that. You just have to bring the show harder, louder and heavier than before.”

Continued Grohl: “Those Wembley shows (in 2008), those were real landmark moments for the band because we’d never done those big shows before…and Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones [played with us.] So this has to be a different type of celebration and it has to be just as magical.”

During the same interview, Shiflett noted that the key for having successful nights at Wembley will be not over-thinking the moment.

“I think we’ve psyched ourselves out on big shows like that in the past and hopefully learned our lesson from that,” said Shiflett. “Even if it’s a ‘two big nights’ at Wembley thing, you have to treat it like it’s any other show and just go out there and do your thing.”
