Watch Foo Fighters’ Taylor Hawkins Dominate Battle of the Bands in Grade 9
Most of us know that before Taylor Hawkins found a full-time gig with Foo Fighters, he served as Alanis Morissette’s drummer during her Jagged Little Pill era. But, did you know that Hawkins also ripped through a Van Halen cover in 1987 at the Laguna Beach High School Battle of the Bands?
Here, Hawkins – who was in grade 9 at the time – tears through a rendition of the Van Halen classic, “Panama,” all the while rocking an amazing ’80s haircut and bowtie. Fortunately, camcorder footage of this momentous occasion has been unearthed and given to the world. Thank you Internet, thank you.
