Florence + The Machine Take Over Foo Fighters Glastonbury Slot
News broke last night that Foo Fighters would have to cancel its headlining appearance at Glastonbury (Friday, June 26) after Dave Grohl suffered a massive leg injury, comes word that Florence + The Machine will take over the slot.
Florence + The Machine was initially scheduled to perform ahead of Foo Fighters on the Pyramid Stage, but will now be tasked with closing out the first big night of Glastonbury. Further scheduling adjustments will be confirmed in the coming days.
“We’re very pleased to announce that Florence + The Machine will play the Friday night Pyramid headline slot, which Foo Fighters were forced to withdraw from yesterday,” reads a statement issued by Glastonbury
Added Glastonbury Co-Organizer Emily Eavis: “Once we heard the sad news that Foo Fighters had been forced to pull out, there was only one person we wanted to call and that was Florence. Every time she has played here she’s done something spectacular and we always knew she would headline the Pyramid one day. I’m delighted she’s agreed to step up to it – she’s going to smash it!”
Just last weekend, Florence + The Machine closed out night one of Bestival in Toronto.
