Enter Slopeman: Metallica Skis to Hit the Mountains
Metallica may be best known for their crunching riffs, scary-good solos and a drummer who wears short-shorts, but who would’ve thought that the band was so into skiing?
Turns out, three quarters of Metallica don’t just ride the lightning, they also ride the slopes, thus inspiring a partnership with Armada Skis.
“It’s no secret that three quarters of the band enjoy our snow sports ([guitarist] Kirk [Hammett] is sticking to the water for now!) so we’re excited to announce that we have hooked up with Armada to create a line of Metallica skis for you to cruise around the mountains on,” reads a statement issued by the band.
It’s further explained that the Armada x Metallica collaboration will consist of two types of skis (the Invictus 95Ti all mountain ski and the JJ 2.0 powder ski), as well as a Hans windbreaker jacket and Decker gloves. All of these items will be coated in Master of Puppets-based artwork created by the Armada team, with input from Metallica.
These products will not be available at retail until September, but they can be pre-ordered at the Met Store right now.
This is just another example of Metallica embracing a winter sport. Earlier this year, the band looked to have had a blast at a San Jose Sharks game.
