Eddie Vedder Makes Good on Promise to Fan 22-Years Later

Say what you will about Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam, but the dude sure knows how to make good on a promise, even if it pearljam_story-630x420was made more than two decades ago.

Twenty-two years ago when Pearl Jam was beginning to climb the rock n’ roll mountain, Vedder and the band went to a Cincinnati, OH, movie theatre to catch Wayne’s World. While in the lobby, fan Joe Wolfe approached Vedder, desiring a photo. Unfortunately, a camera wasn’t available, so Vedder did the next best thing: he promised Wolfe that the next time they bumped into each other, he’d pose for a photo with him.

“I ran into [Vedder] and the band when they all went to the theatre to see Wayne’s World,” said Wolfe in an interview with Diffuser. “There weren’t camera phones back then and he said he would do a picture with me the next time I saw him.”

Flash forward to the October 1, 2014 Pearl Jam tour stop in Cincinnati, where Wolfe would run into Vedder again, and subsequently remind him of the 1992 promise. Initially, Vedder refused, mistaking Wolfe for someone who stole his joint on the same night they first encountered each other more than two decades ago.

However, during the band’s performance two weeks ago, Vedder not only shared the story with the crowd, but also wound up inviting Wolfe backstage after the show. They’d shake hands and pose for the long-time-coming photo. Vedder was also kind enough to give him an autograph and guitar pick.

It’s wrong to be insanely jealous about this, right?
