Dave Grohl Won’t Appear in Cobain Doc…Yet
Over the weekend, the highly anticipated Kurt Cobain biopic, Montage of Heck, premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. While Riffyou.com wasn’t in attendance, we expect that many of those who were, left a little bit surprised by the fact that Nirvana drummer and current Foo Fighters leader, Dave Grohl, didn’t appear in the film.
According to Montage of Heck director Brett Morgen, Grohl was interviewed for the film this month, but there wasn’t enough time to include any further clips into the documentary.
“We had a locked print and trying to re-edit a film with a new interview in 10 days is kind of difficult,” Morgen said in an interview with Billboard. “This is the picture I wanted – I didn’t want there to be a lot of people in the film.”
That said, Morgen didn’t rule out the possibility of Grohl appearing in Montage of Heck eventually, stating: “I hope we’ll see a version [with the Grohl interview] some time.”
Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck, can be seen on HBO on May 4.
