Creed Frontman “Penniless” & “Under Attack”
Creed was at one point the biggest modern rock band in the world, but time has not proven kind to the band, more specifically, frontman Scott Stapp.
Stapp, who infamously battled drug and alcohol addiction in very public manners, says that he is now sober, but penniless and residing in a Holiday Inn. He claims to have spent two weeks sleeping in his truck, all the while not having any money for food or gas. The former led to a trip to the emergency room.
Recently – says Stapp in 15-minute video posted on Facebook –he began to conduct an audit of his personal and record label finances, only to discover a number of irregularities. More specifically, Stapp said that money was missing and royalty payments not issued. He insinuates that individuals at his former record label are behind this.
He goes on to explain that it was around this time that the IRS froze these accounts. After looking into the matter further, Stapp says that it was a clerical error that led to his accounts being frozen, but that the IRS is unable to give him access to them for 9-10 months.
Later on in the video, he adds that – presumably other bank accounts he has – had money stolen out of them as well. Stapp is convinced that the perpetrators changed his online banking password to obtain these funds.
“I’m not playing victim here and I’m not asking you to feel sorry for me. I’m just telling you the truth,” offers Stapp.
Stapp claims to know who is behind these wrongdoings and is looking for legal representation to help vindicate him. He says that he’s aware that going public may result in further attacks against his character, but that he is fighting to have the truth be told.
Earlier this month, Stapp’s wife Jaclyn filed for divorce from the singer, claiming that he is on drugs, paranoid, and has threatened to kill himself and harm his family. He allegedly disappeared from their home in October.
Not to pile on, but the Miami Herald has published a serious of text messages in which Jaclyn claims were sent to her by Stapp:
▪ “Florida is not safe. Biological weapons on the way. U have to leave with kids and meet me in Atlanta.”
▪ “I’m coming to get you Satan and children. No mercy. You know how this ends. God created you and now God is ending you.”
▪ “God is also telling me something about Palm Springs and Nashville so there’s a connection somehow. He’s also telling me DEA for some reason.”
▪ “Wells Fargo working out my account problems. I’m out of gas. Haven’t eaten all day. I’m asking if they can spot me $1,000 so I don’t fall over from malnutrition.”
▪ “I wouldn’t doubt it if the CIA is behind Alcoholics Anonymous.”
