Buck 65 Releasing Embattled Divorce Album, “Neverlove”
Buck 65 (Robert Christgau) has outlined details of Neverlove, an album that has been described by the Canadian artist as “a divorce record, plain and simple.”
Nine of the album’s 13 tracks feature guest vocal appearances by various female artists, while Alias, DJ Mayonnaise, Dean Nelson, Martin Troemm, and Sunclef offer their input on the production side.
“The old albums were made of wood,” says Buck. “This one is made of steel. It doesn’t sound like anything I’ve ever made before.
“Neverlove is about the heartbreak, confusion, anger and madness I experienced after losing a love I expected to last the rest of my life,” he adds. “Making this record is how I got through a terrible time in my life. I hope I never write another one like it.”
Following the September 30 release of Neverlove, Buck will embark on an extensive Canadian tour in November. For every pair of tickets purchased ahead of the album’s release, fans will receive a digital download of the album, and get the lead single “Only War,” immediately.
Neverlove will be available as either a double vinyl (which includes the bonus CD version of the album), or as a single CD. The first 200 pre-orders of the physical album will receive a signed CD booklet from Buck 65. Meanwhile, iTunes will offer a deluxe, 17-track version of Neverlove.
