Blink-182 to Make New Music with Matt Skiba
After the odd departure of Tom DeLonge from Blink-182 earlier this year, many have wondered if his rock show fill in Matt Skiba (of Alkaline Trio) would make new music with Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker. Well, it appears that we now know.
In a Billboard article in which Hoppus is interviewed about scoring an animated short film, the author writes: “In the meantime, Hoppus continues with Blink-182. He said the threesome – with Alkaline Trio’s Matt Skiba replacing guitarist Tom DeLonge – will head back into the studio in August.”
Thus far, the Blink-182 camp hasn’t officially come out to confirm that revelation. However, Skiba and the Blink-182 fellas have seemingly been interested in joining forces for many months.
In April, Skiba commented on the idea of permanently joining Blink-182. “It’s something I would be very excited to do and I’ve known the Blink guys for about fifteen years and we’ve become good friends. Playing songs I haven’t written with Mark and Travis is a blast, so to go in and create music with them would be amazing.”
