Arcade Fire’s Old Tour Rider is Amazingly Ridiculous
As Arcade Fire prepare to hop onto the festival circuit this year, a copy of the Grammy and JUNO Award winning band’s Reflektor tour rider has surfaced online. And wow, is it ever amazingly ridiculous!
Oh, where to begin…
Firstly, Arcade Fire required loose leaf tea, so much so, that it was mentioned firmly multiple times within the list of their backstage requirements. These folks don’t want any stinkin’ bagged tea!
Secondly, “all written words must have correct spelling and grammar.” We are assuming this is in regards to the signage in or around the dressing room. One has to wonder, was Arcade Fire carrying a thick dictionaries around in their guitar cases?
Other oddities included a craft centre in the room so that Arcade Fire members can paint and have a “creative outlet”; a collection of Robert Munsch books, as well as a large-sized Garfield t-shirt and a Victrola phonograph with 200-watt speakers.
Toronto radio station Indie88 shared the printed version of this Arcade Fire rider. It’s 85% strangely funny and hopefully 1,000% real.
UPDATE: Arcade Fire’s Win Butler has confirmed that the rider is in fact bogus: “To anyone who thinks that is our actual tour rider, you are extremely dim…”
