Alice Cooper Releasing Covers Album with Famous Friends
On September 11, fans of classic rock will officially be introduced to Hollywood Vampires, a covers album helmed by Alice Cooper and featuring a long list of famous contributors.
Johnny Depp is heavily involved in Hollywood Vampires, appearing on all cover tracks, plus two original tune, “Dead Drunk Friends” and “Raise the Dead.” Meanwhile, Paul McCartney (The Beatles), Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters), Perry Farrell (Jane’s Addiction), Brian Johnson (AC/DC), Robby Krieger (The Doors), Joe Walsh (The Eagles) and countless others contribute their musical prowess.
In a press release, it’s explained that the album took two years to make and that it was named after a club Cooper rolled with during his early years.
“To join the club, one simply had to out-drink all of the members,” said Cooper. “I would walk in on a typical night and John Lennon, Harry Nilsson, Keith Moon — who would usually be in a costume like a maid or a chauffeur — Bernie Taupin, Jim Morrison and Mickey Dolenz would be there.”
