AC/DC Name Drops Danko Jones in Reddit Q&A
In the Canadian rock circuit, there are few bands that rock heavier, and with more conviction, than Danko Jones.
Just days after Danko Jones announced the forthcoming release of their next album, Fire Music, Angus Young of AC/DC name-dropped the band during a Reddit ‘Ask Me Anything’ session with fans.
When asked: ‘What modern bands do you guys believe you’ve had an influence on?’ Angus responded this way:
“Modern bands? Airbourne, obviously. I think there was a female band here, The Donnas. I heard that they’re influenced by us, I know there’s a few other ones. Either here or Canada or somewhere, they were called Danko [Jones]. And Alice Cooper told me yesterday, [this] band… The Strypes… he said to check The Strypes out. They had an authentic ’60s, ’70s sound, whatever that is. So we do know some things.”
Needless to say, news of this magnificent mention reached Danko Jones, who responded on Twitter by saying: “…It feels pretty fucking great to hear that Angus Young mentioned our band when someone asked him what new bands he’s into.”
During the Reddit conversation, the status of AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd was brought up, to which bassist Cliff Williams replied: “Phil has to get himself well. That may take some time.” It was also noted that Rudd’s legal troubles would not negatively impact AC/DC’s plans moving forward. Rock or Bust is due December 2.
In the meantime, have a listen to the new Danko track, “Gonna Be a Fight Tonight.” We think Angus would approve.
