AC/DC to Go On Without Malcolm Young
AC/DC, via an official statement upon their Facebook page, have confirmed that founding member Malcolm Young will be taking a break from the band due to health issues. The group didn’t provide details regarding what the illness is, or if Young will eventually return to the rock outfit.
As reported earlier today, band vocalist Brian Johnson said that the group isn’t retiring and is instead heading to Vancouver in May to work on new material. He alluded to the health struggles of a bandmate, but didn’t name names.
Here’s the statement from AC/DC:
“After forty years of life dedicated to AC/DC, guitarist and founding member Malcolm Young is taking a break from the band due to ill health. Malcolm would like to thank the group’s diehard legions of fans worldwide for their never-ending love and support.
“In light of this news, AC/DC asks that Malcolm and his family’s privacy be respected during this time. The band will continue to make music.”
